Two generous donors have kicked off fundraising for this Educational Reforestation Project for which we are extremely grateful. We certainly want to get this small but extremely valuable project funded as quickly as possible while conditions are still suitable for planting.
The focus of this project is education, and LRFF and the Gonzalez family have a vision that local school children be involved in this project from start to finish. Ideally we’d like the students to come and plant the project with us, giving them the chance to learn first-hand about planting and inspiring them to use and spread the knowledge they acquire to plant trees elsewhere throughout their lives. The children have 4 more months of school until the summer arrives and they break up for their summer holidays. This gives us 4 months to get the fairly small amount of funding we need to plant this project with the children. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could get it planted so the children came back after their summer break to thriving saplings?
This could also be an interesting project for schools outside of Costa Rica to adopt and work on with the schools here. Either way, this project when planted will serve as a rich resource to local education and student groups the world over. As soon as we have the funding we’re ready and we can’t wait to get started on it!
