Educational Empowerment of Children in India

Health Check up

The last three months have been quite eventful for us. The beginning of the year was overwhelming with 312 children being enrolled in our school. The fund transfer from Global Giving in the month of July 2015 was so timely that we could address most of the challenges that time. However, during the last three months we have made several efforts to ensure that children feel comfortable at school and are motivated enough to continue attending school regularly with interest and enthusiasm. At the same time it is pleasure sharing that we have successfully completed half of the academic year and children have performed fairly good in the examinations completed so far - two formative assessments (FA1 & FA2) and the summative assessment.

Some of the highlights of the period are as follows:

The children were provided with a pair of uniform and school bag.
A health check up camp was organised for children; on the whole the health status of children was described as satisfactory by the doctors but suggested the need to concentrate on hygiene and cleanliness
A food exhibition was organised to create an awareness among children to eat healthy foods and the ways in which the junk food damages the human body and systems
A picnic was organised for children to Nehru Zoological park on November 14, 2015 where they enjoyed watching different animals, birds and reptiles .
Children enjoyed participating in various games and competitions, organised as part of independence day celebration. Prizes were distributed among children on August 15, 2015 after flag hoisting
An awareness program on Traffic rules was organised with the help of the department of traffic police so as to teach children safety measures while moving on roads
Children had a huge blast participating in the day long program organised as part of International Day for Child Rights on November 20, 2015 at Hotel Taj Banjara.
