We need Education to fight poverty in South Sudan

Thanks for your support to help children to fight through Education.
Hope Ofiriha has partnered with Journey International, Inc. to redesign the current structure of the school building. The present design is too expensive to build. However, one under design will require a small budget to erect the buildings. It takes six months to release a new layout. JMI will be coming in June to help build Mairo primary school.

Within now and June the local volunteers will make hardcore stones, quarry stones, collecting sand, and cutting trees to make timbers for roofing.

The project has purchased 40 bags of cement to produce more interlocking soil blocks to add to the one already produced.

Hope Ofiriha sends a new field update after a quarter so that you get to know the progress we are making with building work. Also, how your contribution is enabling children to attend classes in two classrooms already built.

Owinyikibul villagers clashed with new recruits in earlier March.
The government and the opposition have failed to reach a peace deal despite the pressure from IGAD, UN, and the World. There are new fierce clashes in Jonglei and Upper Nile States. Humanitarian situation is worsening. There are 1.5 million people displaced from their villages of which some are living in exile as refugees.

In Owinyikibul of Magwi County, new soldiers recruit clashed with local villagers earlier March. The drunken soldier had refused to pay for the services where he was stabbed in a bar fighting. He then organized his fellow recruits burning more than 100 houses and market stalls in retaliation. One recruit in the clashes. A chief has blamed the trainers for failing to keep discipline.

Without Education no future in south Sudan

Thanks for your continued support to Educate Children and Fight Poverty in South Sudan.

There is no political agreement reach between the government and SPLA in Opposition despite IGAD sponsored peace mediations since the alleged coup. South Sudan is getting worse every day. Hope for peace has depreciated as the clashes continue to take place in Jonglei state.

The construction of Mairo Primary School did not go as planned for two reasons. The unpaved road to Omilling was utterly destroyed due to heavy rainfall. Truck owners were not willing to deliver the building materials to the site. Owners fear to get stranded in the muddy road, and a truck might get broken down Also the political instability in the country had discouraged commercial transport firms to restrict their services within Juba.

Mr. Francis went to Omilling to check on the road, security, and talk to the local chief with the view to start the construction after Christmas' eve. Because January to Mach is summer time to build since there will be no rain for a while. Within this time, a truck can deliver the building materials to the site.

Last year we received $13,500 from Trolltech foundation (phase two). Your donations will be added up together to buy the construction materials. Even thought this is good news, it will construct the classroom to the ring beam level as we are a campaign to raise more fund.

Several months ago and with your money, 300 bags (50Kg each) purchased from a supplier but due to lack of transport these goods were not delivered to the site. This time we are sure the truck will be hired to transport to the site. From your contribution, money has been set aside to pay ten trip of sand, quarry stones, and hardcore stones.

This project is still far away from completion, but the progress is real indeed. Building two classrooms in last year helps in completing this project in the end. In the next quarter a new field update be sent, so that you know what your contribution is helping from the ground.

Education is only Hope for South Sudan

Education is our hope for future generation!

Thanks for your recent generous donation to Educate Children and Fight Poverty in South Sudan.

South Sudan on the Brink of Famine as Fighting Rages On. Aid agencies predict that South Sudan could be headed for the worst famine since the 1984 Ethiopian famine.

The United Nations has warned that a famine looms if there is no end to the fighting that erupted in mid-December between the government and rebels. More than a third of the nation's roughly 11 million people could be on the brink of starvation by the end of the year, UN officials claim.

Additional aid is needed to combat this alarming crisis.

We are very excited that Mairo Primary School is under way to construction in Omilling South Sudan. About 95% of the children cannot read or write. Our goal is eradicate this high level of illiteracy. The rain is halting our supplies, road is bad, and insecurity is discouraging vehicle to transport the supplies to the project site. We are looking for a truck.

When completed, the school will help nurture the minds of the children who have witnessed unspeakable things during the long war. The school will also provide children with love, comfort, and hope for the future. We are confident that the school will also bring unity and build a spirit of peace and reconciliation among four different villages.

We have received $13,500 from Trolltech Foundation (phase two), which will be added to your donation to purchase building materials. Although this is good news, but still we are underfunded. The fund will construct the classroom to a beam ring level as fundraising is ongoing.
