The Story of Hassan

By ASAM | Project Leader

Hassan is one of the thousands of young people who were forced to leave their country because of the war. After losing his father in Syria, he sought refuge in Türkiye in 2014 together with his mother and younger brother. When he arrived in Türkiye, he was still under the age of 18; his younger brother was of middle school age.

The greatest source of support for the family was their mother, who dedicated her life to her children’s future. A high school graduate mother attended courses in fields such as first aid, hairdressing, and tailoring after arriving in Türkiye and obtained various certificates upon completion of these trainings. At the same time, she was an active member of the Women’s Committee for many years, where she both participated in trainings provided by Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization(ASAM) and volunteered in activities carried out inside and outside the office.

The mother’s priority was her children’s education. With the support of ASAM, Hassan enrolled in open education, while his younger brother continued with formal schooling. As Hassan prepared for university, their mother stood by them every step of the way, strengthening their educational journey.

Today, Hassan continues to work towards achieving his dreams. His story is a testament to a strong journey shaped by his mother’s determination and the support provided by ASAM.

Hassan and his brother are taking steps toward a brighter future through their education.
