Vijana Tuungane Youth Group provides scholarships and holistic educational support to children in Langas, Eldoret's largest informal settlement. Poverty, unpaid fees, and lack of learning materials deny thousands of bright children their right to education every year. We provide full scholarships covering school fees, uniforms, books, daily meals, and mentorship empowering an entire generation to break free from poverty and build a better future for Langas, Eldoret, and Kenya.
In Langas, Eldoret, poverty blocks children from school daily. Over 60% of families live on under $2/day, making fees impossible. 1 in 3 children is out of school. Girls face early marriage and dropout. Classrooms are overcrowded, under-staffed, and resource-starved. Dropouts face unemployment and lifelong poverty. COVID-19 deepened the crisis many children never returned to class.
Vijana Tuungane Youth Group will provide 500 children in Langas with full scholarships covering school fees, uniforms, books, and daily meals. Weekly tutoring and monthly mentorship keep scholars on track. We identify the most vulnerable children orphans, girls at risk, and the ultra-poor through community vetting. By removing every financial barrier, we ensure no child in Langas loses their future to poverty.
Every child educated in Langas today becomes a doctor, teacher, or entrepreneur tomorrow. When a child completes school, they lift their entire family out of poverty breaking a cycle that has lasted generations. Girls who stay in school marry later, raise healthier children, and earn more. Over 10 years, Vijana Tuungane envisions a Langas where no child is denied education, youth unemployment drops, and the community leads its own development from within.
