As the school year begins to come to a close, our team at REBUILD globally look back on the progress of our students, and reflect on all of the changes we have undergone this year.
We are very proud to report that our students have worked diligently to give better performance in their classes. They are still in healthy competition with one another, encouraging each other to work hard, whilst never losing sight of their individual goals to be the top of their classes.
It is with extreme pride that we report that 6 of our students entered their final semester at the very top of their class. Acheivements like this give us pause, and make us look at the national statistics.
In a recent research product, we discovered a few jarring statistics regarding Education in Haiti.
In Haiti, only 20% of students make it from primary to secondary school. In contrast, 100% of our students graduated from Primary to Secondary School, and nearly 20% are the very top of their class!
We also know that the low graduation rate from primary to secondary school in Haiti is not purely about academic progress. It also has to do with financial capacity of families in Haiti to send their children to schools, as secondary school is far more expensive than primary school, and never free.
This is why we were thrilled to hear from the school principal at one of our partner schools, that because of the 15 REBUILD globally students enrolled in his school, 40 additional students are empowered to attend, as many of his teacher's salaries are covered by our student's fees.
We are so grateful to our tutors who worked diligently to engage and encourage our students, whilst pushing them to perform at their highest capacity. We know that tutoring plays a huge role in our student's success, as 88% of our students did not receive this extra support before joining the Elev Program.
None of our work would be possible without the support of our generous donors. We ask that you continue to support our work so that we can continue to transform educational opportunity in our communities.
