Project Report | Sep 4, 2019
Project Progress Report of September 2019

By Resource Mobilization Team | Resource Mobilization Unit

Greetings from Bethany Society and especially from all the young people who are availing of opportunities on their journey towards realizing their dreams. All are young persons with disabilities from remote rural areas who are benefitting from your generosity.

This report covers the period (June – August) 2019 and we have expanded the activities to include our rural work in some of the most remote areas of the State of Meghalaya.

The students residing in the Divine Flame Hostels and attending Jyoti Sroat School have completed the first three months in school and are all well settled and have completed their quarterly academic evaluation and spent a week with their families in their villages. This has also given the staff a well-deserved break. The new inclusive playground has been completed and the students can now enjoy exercise and spend many hours especially at the weekend just enjoying the park surroundings.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, all the students re-dedicated their resolve to make the campus litter free and also work towards conserving water and electricity. They are enjoying the eco-friendly activities that have been established on the campus such as paper recycling, using chickens to compost organic matter, tending to vegetables and also planting fruit trees. The monsoon rains will ensure that the new seedlings will get a good start, just like the support received from all the GlobalGiving donors.

Further afield we have also tried to strengthen the programme in the Garo Hills in a place called Tura about 350 Km from Shillong where we are setting up an agro-forestry programme with hostels for adult persons with disabilities. Here the training in the basics of integrated farming will ensure economic rehabilitation of 60 young persons with disabilities.

A detailed report is attached.

Thank you for your support.
