Bonjou everyone,
We just returned from 2 weeks in Cap Haitien visiting, loving our Kay Anj children!
The kids continue to grow and learn in school. School is tough for them as it is taught in French (common in Haiti). We continue our after school tutoring. Jean Baptiste teaches our older kids, Emani teaches our little guys and we recently hired Emani's husband to teach our 2nd graders as they were struggling in school. The tutors come to our orphanage (they ride the bus home with the children) for two hours after school. While the kids are tired from a long day at school they understand the importance of their education. They change out of their uniforms, eat their lunch/dinner and then sit down for tutoring. It's a very long day for the kids. They are growing and learning daily.
A wonderful group of 8th graders from Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC traveled to Cap Haitien to spend a week with our kids. They helped with homework, studied French books, helped with English, danced, visited the Citadel with our children. It was a blessing for all!
School ends in late June. We will be there to celebrate the end of the year and report cards!
We pray that they continue to value and appreciate their education. Thank you all for your love and support of our children as they grow and learn in Haiti!
