While our in-person classes for the new year have been put on hold because of the pandemic, U&I is poised to take on the challenges that COVID-19 has brought on.
The last few months saw U&I quickly switching gears to ensure that our Learning Center Partners (LCP) had the basic requirements in terms of food supplies for the children we reach. A large percentage of our students live in care homes and orphanages where basic food security was threatened because of the national lockdown. From ascertaining the need to buying supplies to providing for our LCPs, U&I jumped into action ensuring that our students did not slip through the cracks.
The next order of business, of course, is our learning plan for this year. While we are unsure of when the government will allow schools and tutoring hubs like ours to resume, we are completely sure that our students will receive access to learning resources in the most effective and practical manner possible. With this in mind, we have categorized all our Learning Centres based on their internet connectivity and access to devices and have come up with a robust plan for remote learning. While those centres with high connectivity will continue tutoring through zoom calls and online workshops, others with medium connectivity will learn through YouTube videos and other similar platforms, while those with no connectivity will be provided with weekly learning kits which will include worksheets. Our funding team is working hard to make digital classrooms a possibility for all our students not just for these unprecedented times, but also to ensure their digital literacy in a world where that can be a determining factor when it comes to employment.
We thank you for your continued support through these challenging times. We believe that together we can ensure that our children beat the odds and become the best version of themselves.
