Broadcasts to begin next month!

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your support of our new radio station. It has now been four months since Radio Meraj was founded. There are now three staff members – a general manager, and broadcasting and technical managers. The general manager is a woman with 8 years experience, and she is head of the journalism department at Herat University. The radio station is busily preparing to go live in March!

Following is a sampling of the activities of the staff over the last few months:

Preparation of the employee manual for the station, including all relevant laws, and the aims and goals of the station.
Design of the station logo and motto
Establishment of an email address and Facebook page
Recording of short, memorable phrases to be used on the air
Purchase of equipment.
Preparation of the schedule of programs
Development of programming for the station, including children’s shows
Organizing over 12,000 songs and poems to be played on the station
Meeting with staff of other radio stations in the area

Our whole staff is really looking forward to the day when Radio Meraj, 94.1 FM in Afghanistan, makes its first broadcast. Thank you for your support of this worthwhile venture!
