Radio Meraj covers 7 of 8 districts as well as downtown Herat. There are 13 live programs and 17 pre- recorded programs. Each week there are guest speakers on the air and in December these including Herat’s provincial governor, electoral complaints commissioner, a person from the chamber of commerce, the head of Herat Fine Arts College, the head of the Agriculture Office.
This story illustrates how the station is a resource for citizens to use to get problems addressed by the municipal authorities.Neda is a female college students of Herat University. "The Herat Municipality started to repair an old bridge on the road to my university a long time ago. They made the street open on one side only for a year and a few months ago the construction work stopped. This created difficulties in commuting to college because of the overcrowding of the road and I arrived late at the university every day. Then I called Radio Meraj and asked why it did not work on this project as you covered the subject in your news service. The next day work started again which was a very good thing. Thank you for your follow-up and I hope that the project will be completed soon and the road will be reopened to all traffic."
Thank you for your continued interest and we hope you will read the annual newsletter attached.
