As the year draws to a close, we want to thank you for your support in 2017. Your donations have helped many people improve their lives. Radio Meraj in Herat, Afghanistan reaches tens of thousands of listeners each day. Many of these people are illiterate and poor and the radio makes a huge difference in their lives. Thank you for being a part of this!
Stories are the best way for us to show how you have helped poor Afghans improve their lives and communities. This is one of our favorite stories from the year:
One caller said, “In my village a man was in a relationship with a girl and wanted to get married but this created a family dispute. Traditional custom would solve the dispute by having the man’s 8 year old sister marry his girlfriend’s brother. I knew this was not right as I had listened to Radio Meraj’s program on the illegality of early marriage. I called the Women Affairs Department and they prevented the marriage of the young girl. In the morning as I go to work I see the young girl happily heading to school. I thank the radio for helping me understand what is right and help other people.”
Thank you for your continued interest in the power of radio! Please read our 2017 Newsletter for more information.
