Project  Education For 100 Girls In An Urban Slum In India (#5003)

Report on Distribution of “Earthen Water Pots” – Quenching the Thirst !!!

Summary : This project will enable for provision of “Earthen Water Pots” to the identified urban slum area children's families.

As the summer season has already started and there are reports of temperature reaching 38 degrees Celsius and today reported 40 degrees celsius.  During the May month the temperature may rise more and need to face the severe summer this year.

Natural and hygiene Earthen Pots:

The chilled water of earthen pots during summer has no other replacement in quenching the thirst and satisfaction of drinking water.

When it comes to storing water, the earthen pots occupy the primary position. Storing water in an earthen pot is the best method. Earthen pot not only makes the water chilled during summer but also provides healing elements of Earth. More importantly the earthen pot transfers the coolness to the water according to the climatic conditions; which is the special quality of earthen pot that no other container has.

For generations, earthen pots or matka(called in Indian language) have been used to store water and keep it cool. Water stored in matkas or surahis is cooled to about 14 degrees Celsius and is said to have a refreshing flavour. Many find the temperature of the water - not too warm and not too chilled - makes it ideal for drinking. Traditionally, it is believed to be gentle on the throat and better than drinking chilled water from the fridge.

Activities:

  • Distribution of Earthen Water Pots to the identified slum area.

RDOET IN ACTION:

RDOET (HAO India) distributed Earthen Pots to the parents of the girl children of our program in the identified area.  The children and parents of this area are very much thankful and grateful to the Donors of Globalgiving for their timely support and for their kind concern.

On behalf of the children and parents and beneficiaries of this identified area, I extend my deep gratitude to the donors for their valuable support, without which these children would have not availed all these opportunities.

Thanking you,

With all good wishes,

Dr.(Mrs). P. Usha Abraham
