Opening Doors to Education for Deaf Children

By Bushra Azmat | Project Leader

DWAF is delighted to share the encouraging progress of our Deaf school in Sahiwal. What started with just 15 Deaf children has now grown to 50 students—a milestone that reflects the growing trust of families and the increasing need for accessible education for Deaf children.

Our goal is not only to provide free education, but also to make sure that children can travel to and from school safely and regularly. Many of our students come from families who cannot afford daily transportation, and without transport, attending school consistently would be extremely difficult.

Through this project, DWAF is providing:

  • Free education to 50 Deaf children

  • Safe transportation from home to school and back

  • An accessible and supportive learning environment

  • Opportunities for Deaf children to learn, communicate and become more independent

As our student enrollment has increased from 15 to 50 children, our existing transport capacity is no longer sufficient. DWAF is therefore working toward arranging an additional rickshaw so that our growing number of students can travel to school safely, comfortably and with dignity.

For these children, transportation is not simply a ride—it is their bridge to education. When safe transport is available, children can attend school regularly and families can feel confident that their children are travelling safely.

We are deeply thankful to GlobalGiving and our generous donors for your continued trust and support. Your partnership is helping Deaf children who might otherwise be left behind gain access to free education and a safer journey to school.

From 15 students to 50, every new child in our classroom reminds us how important this work is. Together, we hope to continue opening doors to education, independence and a brighter future for Deaf children.
