Edu-tech spaces (EmergiHubs) for students in Zimbabwe

Students at St. Dominic’s Girls, pictured here, are part of the beneficiaries from the programs offered by the project. These students are part of the Emerging Fellows program and are benefitting from connecting with mentors who are based all over the world through the use of technology. These students are able to host one-on-one video call sessions and online panel discussions with their mentors.

The project team met with some of the students in Chishawasha and reiterated EA’s commitment to create technology spaces (or EmergiHubs) where students can have access to education resources. The program is set-up so that students have access to online resources and reliable internet connection to help with their career development, including resume development, college applications, and mentoring.

“One of the online sessions I had with Emergination Africa’s partners (Deloitte) was when we were taught how to create resumes and elevator pitches,” explains Tawanda. “These sessions also gave me networking exposure and the opportunity to virtually meet with international professionals who are in the industry I hope to work in someday. Emergination Africa has helped me with the global exposure and has motivated me to be the woman I see myself being.”

The students believe that access to online resources and technology will help them prepare for life after high school. The education-technology hubs (EmergiHubs) will provide the necessary resources to help students achieve their dreams. The students are pictured here having an online panel discussion with professionals from Deloitte.
