We are very grateful for the GlobalGiving membership we were able to obtain last year, which has allowed us to be more visible globally and give confidence to new donors. We are also very grateful to all the people who decided to join our community with their contributions to keep the VITAL program running in 2021, which benefited hundreds of children and young people in Putumayo, a needy conflict zone in the south of Colombia.
Last year we especially served children in rural areas, who suffer from social exclusion due to the poor access roads to the villages and because many of them have to travel long and rugged distances to reach the centers where we teach them moral values, school reinforcement and soccer training.
It is very gratifying to hear the parents' comments of gratitude for the impact of VITAL in the lives of their children, especially for the school reinforcement days, since the education they receive in rural schools is very precarious, and they are also grateful for the training in values that helps them to become positive forces for society and for the soccer training, since sports is a motivational tool that helps them channel their energy into positive things, fight for their dreams and also keeps them away from the social scourges that surround them.
In Puerto Asis, we restarted soccer training in February 2021, respecting the biosecurity norms imposed by the pandemic. On the other hand, the schools reopened their doors in May for face-to-face classes with alternation, so we were able to continue with the moral values classes in the classrooms.
We are very grateful for the partnership we had with George Williams School and Bonner Mosquera's soccer school in Bogota, through which they have supported the kids with scholarships. These are opportunities that represent hope for a better future for them and their families.
We sincerely appreciate the support that GlobalGiving gave us through the campaigns and that of all the people (including of course all those who have donated anonymously), who have made possible the impact of VITAL in 2021 through their donations. You can see the impact in the attached graphs.
