During April-May 2026, Undugu Empowerment Programs (UEP) advanced its Education and Dignity Project through the Undugu Higher Education Fund (UHEF) by prioritizing tuition support and essential school needs for vulnerable learners in rural Western Kenya as they re-open for 2nd term.

A total of USD 700 was disbursed to support 30 secondary and tertiary school students with school fees and provide school uniforms for 12 students, helping to protect school retention, improve learner confidence, and preserve dignity among students from highly vulnerable households.

This intervention targeted orphaned learners, girls at risk of early school dropout, and students from low-income families facing significant financial barriers to education. In addition to tuition support, UEP conducted academic mentorship and psychosocial follow-up during the April school holiday workshop, strengthening both educational outcomes and personal development.

The initiative continues to reinforce UEP’s belief that education is not only access to school, but a pathway to dignity, self-worth, and long-term self-reliance.

Impact Made Key Achievements

  • 30 secondary school students received direct school fees support, reducing the risk of absenteeism and school dropout

  • 12 students received school uniforms, helping restore confidence, dignity, and equal participation in school life

  • USD 700 successfully disbursed toward tuition support and dignity-centered school essentials

  • Improved school attendance and academic continuity among beneficiaries from vulnerable households

  • Reduced examination exclusion caused by unpaid school fees

  • Strengthened psychosocial support through mentorship and academic follow-up sessions

  • Increased parent and guardian engagement in student progress and accountability

  • Protected vulnerable girls from risks associated with school dropout, including early marriage and exploitation

  • Enhanced student motivation, self-esteem, and hope for future academic success

  • Reinforced the long-term mission of building sustainable pathways out of poverty through education

Through this support, UEP continues to champion education not simply as assistance, but as a strategic investment in dignity, leadership, and community transformation.
