In January and February 2026, Undugu Empowerment Programs (UEP) focused on ensuring vulnerable youth—especially girls and teen mothers—began the school year without interruption despite harsh economic circumstances.
Education Access Achievements:
-
45 secondary school students received partial fee support
-
15 tertiary students (nursing, teaching, business, and technical programs) received tuition top-ups
- 25 Primary Schools pupils received new uniform support and school lunch meals paid
-
6 new highly vulnerable students were onboarded into the Undugu Higher Education Fund (UHEF)
All supported beneficiaries remained enrolled during the January- February intake period.
Dignity & Retention Support:
-
120 adolescent girls received reusable menstrual dignity kits through the SISTA Plus initiative
-
School-based mentorship sessions were conducted in 3 schools, addressing menstrual health, academic persistence, and goal setting
Teachers reported improved attendance among girls previously missing school during menstruation.
Teen Mothers Support:
To improve accountability and sustainability, UEP introduced a structured Scholar Code tracking system, strengthened monitoring tools, and reporting processes to enhance donor transparency.
Despite rising school costs and rural infrastructure challenges, no supported student dropped out during this reporting period.
Next Steps (March–April 2026):
-
Expand scholarship coverage
-
Prepare for the May 17–20 GlobalGiving Matching Campaign
-
Scale menstrual dignity support to additional girls
-
Launch the Uniform Production sustainability model to support teen mothers’ economic resilience
GlobalGiving support is keeping rural youth in school, restoring dignity, and strengthening long-term community transformation.
Thank you for investing in education and hope.
