Smart Boy in the class

Jack is focusing on his art therapy

Jack was born with low vision and is mentally  handicapped. He lost total vision on his left eye at the age of seven  years due to retinal detachment. Subsequently, his right eye also  suffered retinal eye detachment when he was ten years old and also  had cataract when he was eleven . Now , both eyes are affected by  glaucoma. He has very low vision in the right eye only which allows  him to be mobile but other visual activities are severely restricted.  Jack also has a history of epilepsy that is currently controlled by  medication. 

Jack improved in his attention span. Jack works apart from his  schoolmates so he is able to concentrate and focus on his work for  about 30 minutes .Jack can type braille a-z and form in 3-4  sentences with teacher’s assistance. Jack is able to recognize the letters  ,able to write words(spelling improvable) and he is able to write and read  in print. He is able to complete a puzzle but he is not willing to wear his  blindfold correctly. Moreover he is able to follow the teacher's command.  Jack can remember home address and answer the teacher correctly  without any problems . Jack is able to name his birthday .He is able to  say “ Thank you” and “Sorry” with respect . 

Jack’s orientation in St. Nicholas Home is very good. He needs a  minimum of assistance to overcome this task . He is able to do a physiotherapy session for one hour without any failure. He able to walk around without blindfold . Jack loves to help the other children  with their daily living skills . 

Jack is an intelligent boy . He can recognize the ways inside the home  very well. Besides, he improved his awareness of other people a bit ,  he tries not to walk against people. Jack was good at music . He is  very interested in music, especially in singing . He can sing very well  when music is on and memorizing various types of songs.
