Dear Friends,
A week before our National Elections on the 8th of August, 2017, a lot of you wrote asking if all is well. I did get back say all was well except there was a lot of tension.
Everything went on well but after the announcement of election results, fracas started leading to more than 24 people allegedly being killed (Kenya Human Rights Commission report) in the process with most of these being from the slums of Mathare and Kibera.
A few of our clients have had a few injuries when riot police either tear gassed them or beat them up but everybody else is safe.
The opposition leader has gone to court and the verdict will be issued on the 1st of September, 2017, this will greatly determine how life will be thereafter in the slums for a long while.
The project is on-going and all is well in the meantime.
Before the elections, we had a wonderful and beautiful graduation of our teenage mothers. 24 of them after 6 months of training in either tailoring or hairdressing. Please the photos below.
Thanks for your continued support and kindly feel free to ask any questions regarding the project.
Asante sana
