#Giving Tuesday and Recurring Match Campaign

By Titus Mwangi | Team Leader

Jambo Friends,

Greetings from Mathare…

Holiday season is a time of joyful celebration, yet also a time of reflection. As these days’ approaches, we take time to thank you with gratitude for your donations to MCFpanairobi during this year, 2015. Asante sana like we say it in Swahili.

Kindly allow me to bring to your attention what GlobalGiving has offered as a platform for donating this time of the festive season that is encouraging the spirit of giving and the reasons why it will go a long way in helping us meet our objectives of supporting children in Mathare slums.

This year more than 10 children are either graduating from secondary school or primary school levels. 6 young men and women who have passed through the sponsorship program, graduate from different colleges by the end of the year while one will be finishing his Master’s degree and we cannot be more proud. This is a great achievement considering where these children are coming from – Mathare slums, the oldest slum in Nairobi, Kenya where they have lived under very difficult circumstances. All these is because of a donations from people like you.

This year too has seen us recruit 30 more former street children from Mathare that will be joining primary school next year, 2016 while more than 48 teenage mothers and their children have benefited from the teenage mothers program.

We will be sending you an end of year report by mid-December with all the happenings of the year in all our programmes but allow me to bring to your notice tools that GlobalGiving has given us for you to be able to donate towards the sponsorship of the new intake of 30 kids next year and any other activities we are involved in, in uplifting the community in Mathare.

Start #GivingTuesday (December 1st) a global day dedicated to giving back and the United States government push to make any final, tax-deductible contributions by the end of the year, GlobalGiving is launching a Recurring Match Campaign. The initial gift of new recurring donations created on GlobalGiving.org will be matched 1-to-1 up to $200 per donor per project. Eligible recurring donations of $201 or larger will be matched at $200. A Recurring donation during this promotion will receive will receive a one-time 100% match! #GivingTuesday is the perfect time to start the recurring donation, please visit our donate monthly tab for more detail on how to support: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/educating-street-children-in-the-mathare-slum/?show=recurring

The other options that GlobalGiving is providing tools for are Tribute Cards and Gift Cards.
By sharing your passion about our organization with your family and friends through the purchase of GlobalGiving Tribute Cards, you will be making a tax-deductible donation as a gift or in honor or in memory of someone.

By picking our project and sending a GlobalGiving Gift Card to a friend, family or any recipient that would want to support, they will then be able to see how their money has been put to work through regular updates from the field is the other option available to you for your support.

Needless to say, we want to keep going and help more kids with your support. All funds received will go directly to support the sponsorship of children in Mathare. What better way to celebrate this holiday season than to make a conscious decision to help your neighbors who are in need…

On behalf of the staff and children of the Mathare Children's Fund panairobi thanks for your continued support.

Asante Sana

Titus
