Educating Caregivers working in orphanages

Dear supporters,

We begin this new year with clarity and renewed energy. Over the past months, the Caregivers’ School has continued to grow—not only in reach, but in depth, structure, and purpose.

This new phase represents something important: we are no longer only delivering training—we are helping shape how care is understood, practiced, and strengthened across Panama.

Strengthening the people behind care

Caregivers remain at the heart of everything we do.
They are the ones who hold daily responsibility for children’s safety, development, and emotional wellbeing—often without the tools or support they truly need.

This year, we continue building a program that supports them not only with knowledge, but with confidence, reflection, and practical tools they can apply immediately.

From training to system impact

In addition to program implementation, our work has expanded into spaces of influence and coordination.

We have been actively participating in the Consejo Nacional de Niñez y Adolescencia (CONA), particularly in response to the evolving national situation around shelters. Our role has been to:

• observe and follow up on proposed measures
• contribute with field-based insights
• raise critical questions grounded in our experience

At the same time, through our role coordinating Aliados por la Niñez y Adolescencia, we are helping revitalize a network of organizations by:

• strengthening collaboration
• promoting awareness of children’s rights
• reactivating engagement across members

These efforts are key to ensuring that caregiver training does not happen in isolation—but as part of a stronger, more connected protection system.

Building the future

At the beginning of the year, we also engaged in a strategic planning process alongside our Board of Directors. This has allowed us to define a long-term vision focused on:

• expanding caregiver training across more regions
• improving quality and standardization
• contributing to deinstitutionalization efforts
• strengthening alternative care systems

This vision ensures that the Caregivers’ School continues evolving as both a program and a national reference point

Looking ahead

In the coming months, we will:

• continue expanding training spaces
• deepen curriculum development
• strengthen evaluation and feedback systems
• and prepare new modules that respond to emerging challenges in caregiving

Each step brings us closer to a more prepared, supported, and connected caregiving community.
