Meet Ian, age 4, whose older brother Anayanci, attended the Center 5 years ago. Ian started at the Acorn Center last year and was very pleased to come, because he was already familiar with some of the staff and children there. Ian lives with his parents, grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousins. His dad manages a small store and his mother sells products from a catalogue.
His mother is very grateful that Ian can be at the Center as childcare has been difficult for the family since her sister, who used to help care for Ian, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ian’s mother is kept very busy trying to work and to care for her sister, bringing her for chemotherapy and helping her at home.
Unfortunately, Ian often struggles with poor health and has had a number of respiratory infections but the good nutrition and healthy environment at the Center help him to become more resilient over time. Ian loves playing with his friends at the Center and talks easily to both children and adults. He loves to be in the play room, and particularly likes the toy phone and computer. He likes to pretend that he is selling fast food to his friends.
Because of your generosity, the Acorn Childcare Center is able to give young students like Ian a safe caring environment and a better start to their education. Thank you!
