EBZEF Project Update #21

By Linda O. Bowers | Executive Director

EBZEF’s scholarship recipients continue to succeed in their studies, preparing for careers that will make a difference in their families, communities, and country. They have established Beth’s legacy and will carry it forward into the next generation and beyond. Through their achievements, EBZEF is fulfilling its mission to “empower women, children, and their community in Lumwana West, Zambia, to break the cycle of poverty through education.”

Sandra recently graduated with a BS in Computer Science from the University of Zambia. Reflecting on her achievement, she tells us, “As I celebrate this special milestone of my graduation, I would like to sincerely appreciate you for the incredible support you have given me throughout my academic journey. Your kindness, encouragement, prayers, and sacrifices have played a huge role in helping me reach this point today.

“There were moments when the journey felt challenging, stressful, and uncertain, but your support kept me going and reminded me not to give up. Because of your belief in me, I was able to stay focused on my goals and continue pushing forward.

“This achievement is not mine alone; it is a reflection of everyone who stood with me, supported me, and invested in my future. I am truly grateful for every opportunity, every word of encouragement, and every contribution you made along the way. Thank you for believing in my dreams and for being part of this success story. I carry this achievement with pride and gratitude.”

Charity has graduated with a BA in Civic Education from Kwame Nkrumah University. Reflecting on the support she received from EBZEF and its donors, she says, “Like the popular saying ‘give a man fish, you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you have fed him for the rest of his life.’

“You people have empowered me for life, and I will carry on your generosity, kindness and sacrifices to others in whatever way possible. You need to know that I have transformed into a well-meaningful person because of what you keep doing for me. May God always bless you and the works of your hands.”

While EBZEF’s work transforms lives in Zambia, it also inspires and uplifts supporters around the world. A long-term sponsor replies, “In what has, lately, felt like such a dark and frightening world, EBZEF (and the newsletter we receive) has been a beacon of hope and accomplishment.” Another says, “It’s always so heartening to read all the good work being done by EBZEF at Lumwana West, Zambia. And so hopeful to read the educational progress being made by Beth’s Girls/Ladies! Blessings to you all!” A third donor shared, “Every time I receive your newsletter, my heart does a little flip. I am so happy to see EBZEF’s projects in Lumwana West continue to grow and flourish year after year.”

Your support makes this possible. Together, we are educating the Whole Girl—from preschool through secondary school and on to college and beyond. Through this work, we are helping to demonstrate the power of education to create lasting change for individuals, families, and the entire community. Thank you for making these opportunities possible.
