Each year the students of Elsa Primary School participate in the the Bond of Protection (Raksha Bandhan) festival which is held on the final day of the lunar month in August. It is a very significant event in Hindu culture.
The term "Raksha" translates to "protection," while "bandhan" means "to tie together," symbolizing a bond of care and obligation. The festival highlights the deep-rooted love between brothers and sisters, as sisters tie a rakhi—an amulet or thread—around their brothers' wrists, wishing for their health and prosperity. In return, brothers offer gifts and vow to safeguard their sisters from harm in all circumstances. An additional duty of the brother is to empower his sister to realize her life goals.
