Independence Day is celebrated annually in India on 15th August marking the nation's liberation from over two centuries of British rule. This day honors the efforts of the independence movement, prominently led by Mahatma Gandhi, who is widely regarded as the 'Father of the Nation'. Various institutions, including government bodies, schools, and colleges, organize flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs to celebrate this momentous occasion.
At Elsa Primary School, the flag-raising ceremony is a cherished tradition where students actively engage in decorating the grounds and setting up the flagpole. As the flag is hoisted, the national anthem resonates through the air, followed by performances of traditional Indian dance. After the ceremony, students are treated to an assortment of delicious Indian sweets, adding a festive touch to the day's celebrations.
