Nutrition is essential to the programme at Elsa Primary School, making it the second-largest ongoing expense after teacher salaries. Access to healthy meals helps students focus better on their studies.
Initially, students received a rice and curry meal once a week, but they requested daily nutrition instead. This daily offering includes eggs, bread, and milk, which are often scarce at home. Older students help with meal preparation, and everyone is responsible for cleaning their own dishes and utensils.
In India, various festivals and special occasions are celebrated throughout the year, each with its unique cultural significance. Many of these events take place at Elsa Primary School, enhancing the students' learning experience. On festive days, students enjoy tasty sweets or snacks.
