Teacher's Day has been an annual tradition in India since 1962. It is celebrated on 5th September, the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a renowned academic and also the second President of India (1962-1967). Dr. Radhakrishnan was a firm believer in the power of education.
Indian culture gives immense importance to the relationship between teachers and students. Teachers' Day honours the dedication and hard work of teachers. Students get the opportunity to express their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers. Teachers' Day also serves as an inspiration for the younger generation to consider teaching as a fulfilling profession.
At Elsa Primary School, the students sang a welcome song for their teachers, provided them with a tasty breakfast and offered them gifts.
