All educational institutions in Bihar were closed in mid-March due to Covid-19. We were hopeful at different times in May, June, July, August & September that Elsa Primary School would reopen. Finally, the school was given permission to operate again on 15th October!
Our students are very happy to be back after missing so much school time. Covid-19 cases have reduced significantly in Bodhgaya, but as anywhere, there is always the possibility of new outbreaks. Protocols such as cleaning of surfaces, social distancing, mask wearing & regular hand washing are maintained at Elsa Primary School to ensure the safety of students & staff. Government officials may randomly visit the school to check that these measures are being followed correctly.
This week, students received their new uniforms and sweaters - just in time for the start of winter.
