Dear our lovely supporters,
2020 has nearly come to an end. This year has been so full of bizzare events, sending us on emotional roller coasters. Pleased to see the overshooting day was put off compared to previous years and the record-size ozone hole over Arctic healed and closed itself. Heart-broken to witness plastic pollution worsened because of medical waste and takeaway packaging during the lockdown meanwhile the funding for this problem has diminished to save money for pandemic reliefs.
Fortunately, the redeeming highlight over this period may also bring joy to you. The "Green River" project, 1 of the 5 winning initiatives coming out of CHANGE's leadership training camp has just carried off the first place at "Youth and Innovation for Ocean" organised by UNESCO. From a humble start, they underwent our empowering camp to build capacity and come up with their own idea, which was building an automatic garbage collector operating on rivers and cannals. With a limited fund, they managed to pilot their project and continued perfecting it over a series of competitions. Their passion, determination and bravery finally has paid off, resulting in their first prize at the UNESCO's competition.
It is these stories that fuel us to walk forward on the long-term journey of protection and I hope you also keep being part of us, joining us in sowing the seeds of empowered youths like above.
