The path to a better future can only be paved through education. Quality education is not accessible for many and we would like your help in bringing it within reach of every child in Pakistan. Better education will enable children in rural and urban slums of Pakistan, who are generally the most vulnerable and susceptible to poverty and exploitation, develop to their full potential and lead a dignified and meaningful life.

DIL has and will continue to work towards achieving this goal of enabling every individual, girl or boy, to realize their right to educ[ation. Our goals are set, but we need your continued help in bringing them to life. On behalf of the school community, students and teachers, DIL would like to extend a huge thank you to all who have contributed so generously.

THANK YOU!

Meet Raees - DIL Nai Abadi School, Rawalpindi

Raees is a thirteen years old boy who lives with his family of eight at a temporary shelter house in Rawalpindi after his family moved from Mohmand Agency (FATA) . His parents are illiterate and have no credible source of income. His father started collecting garbage in the area to earn a living. When Raees reached the age of 5, his mother brought him to DIL Nai Abadi School to get him admission. She wanted her children to get an education in order to have a better life. She did not like the idea of her children collecting garbage from the area as she had bigger dreams for them. Initially, Raees’s father did not have any objection regarding his education but as soon as he completed his primary education, he insisted that he leave school in order to help him collect garbage so that they both can earn. Raees was upset due to his father’s decision as he wanted to remain in school.

When the matter came to the notice of the school principal, she spoke to the father to convince him to change his mind. He compromised and agreed on the term that Raees will help him collect the garbage after school. Currently, Raees is in class 8. He joins his father in picking up the garbage after school. He is doing well in his studies and plans to become an Army officer when he grows up.

“I am very grateful to my school principal who has always been supportive. She has often negotiated with my father regarding my right to education and has never asked us for the school fee. I did not know how to dream until I started going to DIL School. ”-Raees
