Project Report– COVID 19 Pandemic
Erase the hunger and nourish the poor & the needy during this pandemic of COVID 19 by distributing foodgrains to them
Dear Donors,
The whole world is reeling in the pandemic of COVID 19 and Abhilash Foundation has initiated the process of relief work (dry ration food grains distribution) in many parts of Mumbai, Thane & Navi Mumbai to the daily wager, migrant workers, auto-rickshaw drivers, tribals, poor, needy, physically challenged people and children. …..All the children are at home and safe and are attending their classes online.
We are really proud to be associated with GlobalGiving Team for the support they are rendering to Abhilasha Foundation. Together we can teach these underprivileged children and eradicate poverty, illiteracy, malnutrition, and violence.COVID 19 pandemic has brought a standstill to the whole world and has brought many challenges to the world and it has affected the lives of many people. Due to this epidemic, many have lost their lives. Our team is there in the field distributing foodgrains to the migrant laborers who are the most affected and are working continuously with the communities to ensure social distancing and wearing masks to protect themselves from COVID 19. Sessions were given in the community and for school children on how to wash their hands and how to take care of themselves by eating nutritious foods and also taught them safety norms. The migrants were very happy to receive the foodgrains and they also learned social distancing.
Abhilasha Foundation started the first step of support by distributing Dettol, face masks, hand gloves, face wipes, hand sanitizers, and other toiletry items etc. to the old age home. Subsequently, we began ration distribution to the daily wagers which included food grains, spices, oil, potatoes, onions, sugar, salt, spices, chocolates and biscuits to the migrant children and daily wage workers families. The community volunteers were announcing for social distancing while distributing the foodgrains to them. This was captured by a news channel INS News. After viewing the news many community volunteers of various slums started contacting us for foodgrains. We have covered more than 30 slums till today and we have touched more than 4985 beneficiaries and we are still counting for more… Abhilasha Foundation team is committed even during this difficult time to continue to serve the daily wager, migrant workers, auto-rickshaw drivers, tribals, poor, needy, physically challenged people, and children.
