"When girls can't travel safely, they drop out of school. And when they drop out, they are married off." says 19-year old Asha.
Soon after finishing Class 10, Asha's parents began planning her marriage, just as they had for her elder sisters. But Asha wanted to study. With CRY's support, she found the courage to say no and persuaded her parents to let her continue her education.
Today, she is pursuing her B.A., working as a UNICEF Peer Leader, and has stopped seven child marriages in her village by convincing families to give their daughters the chance she fought for herself.
Asha fought for her and is now protecting the future of countless others. Stories like hers show how CRY helps children find their voice, stand against injustice, and claim the childhoods they deserve.
