In the best case scenario, the first Tara plants should have already produced fruit this summer. Unfortunately, it turned out that the plants are not yet as developed as hoped. According to estimates by the local agronomist, it could take another 2-3 years until they are ready. This is a small setback for our goal of providing the families with a source of income.
In order to maintain the trainings even when we are no longer on site, they were carried out by the local experts and not by the technicians for a test period of three months starting in July. The local experts are people from the region who have been trained to disseminate our technologies and knowledge to the population.
The training by the local experts was evaluated by means of a survey in which two women and two men per village were interviewed. The evaluation was predominantly positive. The continuation of the training by the local experts in case we stop our work in the Micani region at some point is therefore a good possibility.
For the remaining two months before the rainy season, the completion of the training cycle and some evaluations are still on the agenda.
