Did you know …?

o   More than 80% of girls and 35% of adolescents in Mexico do not comply with the Physical Activity recommendations.

o   Not all girls have caregivers who value the importance of physical activity, and who have the time and resources to promote extracurricular physical activity.

o   Not all girls have equal access to safe, accessible and appropriate spaces for physical activity.

The PLAY MORE - ACTIVE SCHOOLS Program

Thanks to your valuable support, we have gradually changed this situation, through the PLAY MORE - ACTIVE SCHOOLS program, launched in 2017, which has promoted play, physical activity and sports in girls through quality physical education and the culture of the movement - inspiring girls to have healthier, happier and more successful lives.

 How do we achieve it?

 • Empowering Physical Education teachers

• Encouraging mothers, fathers and guardians to promote movement and sports in their daughters.

• Giving girls positive experiences with movement and sports.

• Elevating the importance of the role of the physical educator in the school community.

• Sensitizing directors with the benefits of an active school.

• Strengthening the link with the graduated schools.

During the 2023 – 2024 School Year, the program impacted 42 primary schools, 137 teachers and directors, and more than 8,000 girls, having the following results:

 • Improvement in the quality of physical education classes.

• Increase in girls' participation in sports activities.

• Strengthening sports infrastructure in schools

Testimonies from the girls who have participated in the program:

The Professor told my mother that I was good at athletics, and he recommended going to the public sports club; from that date until now I practice four times a week.”

(12-year-old girl)

“Because of my (small) height I am more skilled, and I can do things better. At home I do a lot of sports, like running, when I get to school, things become easy for me.”

(9-year-old girl)

Would you like to continue impacting the lives of girls in Mexico?

We are starting a new school year and with your great support we will be able to reach more schools, improving the lives of thousands of girls.
