Early childhood education breaks the cycle of poverty, strengthens families and communities, and sets kids up for happy, successful lives. With your help, Fundacion Sembrar will provide holistic health and educational development for over 200 children under 5 years old in Quito, Ecuador, while accompanying parents to reinforce positive habits and foster a safe and supportive environment at home.
The Pisuli and La Roldos neighborhoods of Quito have high rates of crime, poverty and unemployment, which hinder the development of children and families. Children under the age of 5 experience increased malnutrition, fall behind in school and suffer family trauma such as parental job loss and domestic violence.
Sembrar offers dynamic educational activities and reflective accompaniment so that children can develop skills, build healthy relationships and discover the world. Good nutrition and healthy habits are essential for children to reach their full potential. That's why the balanced meals we provide to more than 200 children each day are a fundamental pillar of our program. The program integrates family life, so we also offer parent workshops and home visits to support family development.
Early childhood education enhances communities and is essential for a happy and successful life. Children who participate in our program show well-developed social and cognitive skills compared to others their age. Parents have shown a positive transformation in parenting skills and relationships with their children, which reduces domestic violence. Eighty-five percent of our children have improved their nutrition and hygiene habits, and 100% now have access to health services.
