Adenike is one of the Educate a Girl scholars who benefitted from the trainings offered by the project “Educate a Girl in Nigeria & Give Her a Future”, which educated 250 deserving girls including Boko Haram orphans in Media Studies and gave them a platform for their voices to be heard and to encourage their freedom to say what they wish for and also to help their community.
According to Adenike, her experience and training at #EAGNigeria have encouraged her to do more for her community and to be the voice of the voiceless. Recently she also represented her country at the 3rd Cohort of the Young African Leaders Initiative, a program sponsored by USA President.
“#EAGNigeria was a life changing experience for me,” Adenike explains. “I learnt that I am the only one who is responsible for my freedom. My country has given me so much and now it’s time to give back. Thanks for the grace and opening my eyes to see how to improve my community. Before this training, I could have never been able to serve my people but this training gave me the opportunity to do so. I have a feeling that I can do something and could bring a change and I will.”
Today Adenike is running her own NGO “FutureForFutureInitiatives”, an initiative to help young street kids to get quality education.
There are many more Educate a Girl scholars in Nigeria, like Adenike, who got encouraged to give out to their community after the #EAGNigeria training and it’s all because of the wonderful donors, who made this happen. So on behalf of Adenike and all other girls, we would like to thank you!
