OCE has started supporting orphans and other vulnerable children with scholastic materials. During the reporting period, one of the100 project rights holders of this project (name withheld) was supported with school materials. This one is a student in form two at St. Johns Secondary School in western Uganda. She is an orphan whose parents died due to HIV. she was attending her first school term before there was a closure of all schools in Uganda in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID 19. During the term and before the closure, the student was supported with scholastic materials which included; books, pens, a mathematical set, payment of her first term school lunch fees. Being a female student she was also given sanitary pads that she would use during the term. On receipt of the support, she said; “I am so grateful for this support. Now I can concentrate on my studies and don’t have to miss school due to lack of sanitary pads or go to class on an empty stomach as being assured of having lunch every day while at school”.
we hope to continue supporting her to attend school when schools open.
We are so grateful to GlobalGiving for this fundraising platform which gives less privileged students an opportunity to attend school regularly
