Educate a Girl, Educate a Nation - Sierra Leone

Every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, pursue her dreams, and build a brighter future. But when the sun sets and reliable electricity is unavailable, studying at home can become a challenge. For girls in Sierra Leone, access to a dependable source of light can make a meaningful difference in their education.

Thanks to the generous support of SolarBuddy and donors like you, students at Bethel Nursery and Primary School received solar study lights to help them continue learning after sunset.

For girls working toward their educational goals, every opportunity to study matters. These portable solar lights provide a reliable source of illumination for reading books, completing homework, and reviewing lessons in the evening.

One Class 6 pupil spoke on behalf of the school, expressing heartfelt appreciation:

"On behalf of this institution, I want to say thank you to SolarBuddy for giving us this great opportunity. We are very grateful for this light. With this light, we can study and read books. We can do so many things with this light."

Solar study lights are one more way to help reduce barriers to learning. Alongside scholarships, school supplies, mentoring, and other educational support, these resources help create an environment where girls can continue working toward their goals.

Together, we are helping girls access the resources they need to learn, grow in confidence, and pursue their dreams.
