At the Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) Computer Training Center, students are learning that computers aren't simply tools for typing and storing information—they can also help them communicate ideas, create professional materials, and share information with others.
Through training in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Publisher, students develop practical skills that can be used in school, the workplace, and entrepreneurship.
PowerPoint training teaches students how to transform information and ideas into organized visual presentations. Students also have opportunities to deliver presentations, allowing them to practice not only their computer skills but also their communication and presentation abilities.
Being able to confidently present an idea is an important skill in college, employment, business, and community leadership.
Students also learn Microsoft Publisher, gaining experience creating professional-looking publications and materials.
Publisher can be used to create materials such as:
The combination of PowerPoint and Publisher helps students move from simply using a computer to creating with a computer.
They are learning how to take an idea, organize it, design it, and communicate it to others.
These skills can help students become more confident in the classroom, more prepared for employment, and better equipped to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.
