Hello Dear Friend,
Each one of the students at EEESMA School for the Deaf is on a path to a brighter and more independent future thanks to the emphasis being placed on computer and software training at the school.
We know well that technical training and tech applications are where the road to better opportunities in the future lies, and we also know that children who are deaf have a particular aptitude for this type of learning. You will be pleased to know that past support from our generous supporters has made a huge impact. The digital development of a Mexican Sign Language Dictionary has made learning sign language convenient and free to parents and families. Also, the creation of digital storybook libraries, with the involvement of the students themselves, has provided access to high- interest content in our students’ first language, Mexican Sign Language.
These initiatives are meaningful and sustainable, and the impacts are far reaching. Especially for those who are often marginalized due to a combination of their deafness, gender inequity and lack of resources. An example of this impact is the story of high school grad, Tony. Following his learning path through EEESMA School for the Deaf and his graduation Tony was hired by EEESMA as a teacher's assistant. His duties include helping in the classroom with sign language instruction, computer skills training, the creation of digital storybooks and the creation of applications currently being used as teaching aids for primary school-aged students. An inspiring example of how one student is "paying it forward".
Our students are aspiring to be not only teachers of deaf education, but also interpreters, web/graphic designers, computer coders, accountants, social workers/psychologists, and audiologists. To name just a few of the many vocations awaiting our students’ discovery!
On December 3rd only donations made to EEESMA School for the Deaf projects through GlobalGiving will be eligible for bonus incentive funds. Please don't miss this opportunity to join us on our journey and see for yourself the impact that your donation can make!
The students have created a Youtube video, see link below, to say thanks themselves. You won't want to miss it!
