I am thrilled to share the latest updates from EEESMA School for the Deaf, where our commitment to providing the best and most holistic education for deaf children in the San Miguel de Allende area and the State of Guanajuato continues to gain recognition.
In the past month alone, we've welcomed seven new students to our family—Mitzi, Montse, Yulisa, Tadeo, Brayan, Andrik, and Eric, aged between 6 and 12. This surge in enrollment has brought our total to an all-time high of 37 students.
Over the next few months, we will introduce each of these remarkable children to you personally. Our aim is to offer insight into the unique challenges they face and demonstrate how EEESMA is dedicated to helping them overcome these challenges.
Our primary focus is two fold. Firstly, we prioritize creating a welcoming environment for our new students, fostering a sense of belonging and confidence within their deaf community. Secondly, we've initiated basic sign language instruction to provide them with a foundation for future learning. The response has been remarkable, with all the new students quickly making friends and actively participating in the various activities offered at school. Special appreciation goes to volunteer Miss Cathy, whose art program has become a favorite among the yougest students.
As we navigate the coming months, both students and teachers will undoubtedly encounter challenges as this latest group of students settle in. With ten students and two relatively new teachers in our primary class, we are all ready to roll up our sleeves and explore innovative ways to deliver the learning instruction required. Drawing on past successes, we are confident in our team's ability to rise to the occasion. An exciting development includes incorporating Noelia and Jesús, two high school students into our teaching efforts. Noelia, who recently completed her high school studies, and Jesús, a natural teacher and nurturer, will play a pivotal role in offering sign language basics to our younger students while creating a source of income for themselves.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters whose generous contributions continue to enable the growth and flourishing of EEESMA's young minds. Your support is invaluable, and we couldn't achieve these milestones without you.
Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and healthy holiday season.
Warm regards, Sharon Doherty
