Education
Covid-19 has cropped in very seriously. No sooner had the term of 77 June2021 for every child to go to than Covid-19 emerged and school had to be closed immediately. Children are at again very high risk.
There is a high rate of death.
Lock down again is next
Feeding at children at their home.
Every child is to be fed at home and this is a big problem because we had already provided food for, children to feed at school when received funds through River Fund. Now here we are and parents yield has not been good. There is a long drought from May and most crops dried up.
Feeding children at school
Food had been provided to those who were at school and children are at home now.
Child headed families
These families have to feed at school and at home, now we are somehow stuck because we had done budget knowing that mid-day meals at home feeding the same day and evening meals.
Scholastic materials
We had already provided scholastic materials for the children who had to begin in June 2021, when we received funds; children cannot go to school due to lockdown.
Uniforms
For informs, we left it pending expecting to buy the uniforms for our children in August term because August is when children where to be promoted to new classes or next level of learning. We are not sure because Covid-19 is now spreading rapidly.
Fees top-up
Having made fees top up for the very needy and schools have now closed up and we cannot know what will happen next.
School dropout
We have a bigger number of school dropout since children are on and off in schools. We don’t know what will happen to our girl child yet girls are the most vulnerable. We are in trouble.
Child’s day
We had planned for our children for this day and now is how to call children together because of the big animal Covid-19.
Care for OVC
We always manage this program. We are always ready for them. We have already taken care of them when we received funds from our dear donors.
Developments
Candidate classes have done their promotional exams and we are waiting to see when they move to the next levels.
We have been able to provide scholastic materials and for food for our children to feed at school and at home as we received funds through the River fund.
Challenges
There is no smooth learning for our children due to Covid-19
During Radio learning – distance learning) very few children benefited because most of children at homes cannot afford radios nor TVs.
Children are not used to distance learning
The radio teaching is not good for primary children because they always need help from teachers
Suggestions
In case funds are realized, there is need to buy text for our children to read at home.
Need to provide printed materials like pamphlets, question papers for children to practice at home.
