Education

Covid-19 has made children’s learning to slope down from March to date and it has made the program of learning to be systematic as it has been.

Only candidate classes have begun going to school as a trial that is P.7, S.4, S.6 and finalist of university.

The system is somehow dull, and demands are very high, masks, sanitizers for every pupils and stay in schools, hand washing and others as needed.

The performance of our pupils may not be up-to-date in 2020

Feeding children at school

We have been feeding them at school but we had already given them food to feed at home now it is a problem to us.

Feeding at home

At home has, now included almost every child due to covid-19

There has been no way of putting these children at centrally because we had to keep at home and don’t mix with other families.

We are very worried of the girl child who needs a lot of care.

Child headed families

We keep on providing food, for them at their places, girls are suffering a lot.

Scholastic materials

This time we provided little for them to read at home only, primary 6 to 7 then secondary and higher places of learning most money was spent on food.

Uniforms

We have not done much this year because no sooner had the schools opened they closed.

Fees top up

It has not been done because children are just resuming schools and there is need if funds are realized.

School drop out

We might have a big number because children have not been in school for long but we have tried to check on them healthy more especially girls they need a lot of care.

Child’s day

We have not done it due to Covid-19 and due to conditions of the big Covid-19  we have put it aside.

Care for OVC

The food has been provided to them and simple monitoring. This has been managed due to funds received late August through Riverfund.

Developments

Candidate class has gone to school other classes may begin in early Januarys 2021 and we need to plan for them.

We have been able to feed our children at home in their families using funds received through the River Fund.

Challenges

Poor learning of our children caused by Covid-19, girls are desperate.

Our children have faced a problem of learning through radios

a)     Some homes have no radios

b)     Those with radios cannot see the teacher or follow the speed

c)     Most of our children have not tried learning at all due to age, not direct help of learning especially nursery and lower primary

d)     Girls

Suggestions

If funds are realized children should get food to feed at school

Girls should be kept very busy but no funds to maintain them

Uniforms will be provided when to year 2021 begins therefore we plan for them.

If possible if funds got then some reading book be bought for children at home for non-candidate classes who will soon be candidates.

God bless you.
