Smiling face of ACT Children - new geometry boxes!

Ashwini Charitable Trust (ACT) distributed school bags and other essential items such as stationary, geometric boxes, pens, pencils and erasers to the children for the academic year 2023-24. Our aim is to support the underprivileged students' education and ensuring equal access to educational resources. In addition, ACT also provided shoes, raincoats, and napkins to prepare our students from Nursery to College to brave the monsoons at the start of the new academic year.

The distribution was carefully planned to prepare the underprivileged students for the new academic year. By providing these essential items, ACT creates an enabling environment for learning, thereby supporting the students' educational journey. Our commitment to providing equal access to resources was demonstrated through the provision of quality school bags, stationeries, shoes, and raincoats to students. This effort ensured that the students had the necessary tools to pursue their education without any disadvantage compared to their mainstream peers. We will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of these deserving students, unlocking their potential and brightening their future.

Distribution Items:

  1. ACT School Bags: ACT distributed high-quality school bags to our students. These bags were designed to be durable, spacious, and equipped with multiple compartments to accommodate books, notebooks, and other essential items.
  2. Stationeries: Each student received a stationery kit containing pencils, scales, sharpeners, pens, erasers, and napkins. These items aimed to equip the students with the necessary tools for writing, drawing, and organizing their academic activities.
  3. Shoes: ACT provided suitable and comfortable pairs of shoes to all students. Properly sized and fitted shoes allowed students to travel to and from school comfortably and safely.
  4. Raincoats: Considering the unpredictable weather conditions, ACT distributed raincoats to protect the students from rain and ensure their attendance and participation in academic activities even during adverse weather.

The Enfold India workshop on gender and sexuality was an excellent opportunity for 150 students to gain a deeper understanding of these important topics. Through interactive sessions and discussions, students learnt about gender equality, diversity, inclusivity, and consent. This knowledge is crucial in fostering a safe and respectful environment within the ACT community and preparing students to be responsible and compassionate individuals. We addressed issues such as setting boundaries and acquiring the consent of the persons involved while negotiating interpersonal relationships. Team ACT wants the children to be empowered with this essential knowledge and sensitisation, so that they can deal with life situations confidently.

The inaugural session was with 84 ACT mothers who attended an awareness session on Gender Equity and Personal Safety. For an overall alignment with the objectives of the program, the mothers were made aware of the subsequent sessions to be held for the children. Most of the ACT mothers are not educated, they were hesitant about openly discussing such topics especially with their children but slowly they opened up.

Student speaks:

“I feel so empowered after attending this programme. I learned about respecting boundaries, understanding consent, and standing up against gender stereotypes. It has given me the confidence to be myself and treat others with respect!"

The Cyber security awareness workshop was conducted to educate 31 ACT students about online safety, privacy, and protecting themselves from cyber threats. Equipping students with cyber security awareness empowers them to make informed decisions while navigating the digital world responsibly. By providing these workshops and sessions beyond academics, ACT demonstrates its dedication to holistic education and empowering students with life skills that go beyond traditional classroom learning. Such initiatives not only enhance students' knowledge but also contribute to their personal growth and overall well-being.

The workshop covered various topics, including malware, IoT devices, the risks of using public Wi-Fi, data privacy, safe practices on social media platforms, malware and phishing attacks.

 College Student speaks:

” The session was informative and gave a clear picture of how to be safe and be aware of social media. They also said that we should not post anything without thinking or being safe. By this session our doubts were also clear and we came to know what is good or bad when it comes to internet. Before this session we did not know that we are giving the hint to the person who is stalking our personal details but after I get to know it, I will make sure that this information can also be shared to my friends and family for their safety. It was more of an interactive session. Most of us thought that they are educated about internet but this helped us to know about cyber security and how to be safe on internet.”

We would like to thank all our donors for making it possible, for being the change makers and for enabling an environment conducive for learning for our children and helping us work towards a better tomorrow.
