The new academic year has begun and all schools have reopened. The energy and happiness at ACT is amplified with the rolling out of our key functions for the children so that they can enjoy their academic year. We started with the distribution of the school kit - bags and stationery; and with the celebrations of the Birthdays of the ACT children at the end of every month.
At ACT, our children were happy and excited to collect their new shoes. Each of them also got a school bag, stationery, water bottle, lunch box and pencil box. The thrill of going back to school after the summer vacation is something many of us can remember.
From the feedback we have got from our children, of all the goodies they got in the School Kit, the hands down winner is the ACT school backpack bag. Now, there is an interesting history to these backpacks. Initially we used to buy them from wholesale merchants in Chikpet. It was clear that one size does not fit all. The backpacks were too big for the little ones in primary school; slightly oversized for the middle school kids and perfect for the seniors. Team ACT decided to customise the backpacks such that all the children get the right sized ones. A lot of thought has also gone into designing the many pouches that are in strategic places within and outside of the backpack to hold the numerous items that one might want to take. This year, the backpacks are doubly special - they are in the same colours as the ACT logo, Grey and Orange. Hence all the excitement about the backpacks!
Team ACT wishes all the children uniterrupted happy school days!
Celebration of Birthday
Birthday parties are back with a bang.
Before the pandemic struck, monthly birthday celebrations on the last Saturday of the month was one of the most eagerly awaited events. With the Trust working mostly online, except for the regular food distribution, all get-togethers came to an end.
Now, with all schools reopening, and ACT also slowly starting to work offline, we decided to start with celebrating the birthdays of the children. The joy on the faces of the children whose birthdays were being celebrated is indeed a sight to behold.
Science Project
In memory of our beloved trustee late Radhika Arvindam, Ashwini Charitable Trust and Agastya International Foundation collaborated to launch a Science Project on July 1st, 2022.
The inaugural session was a big hit with our students. There were 2 educators from the Agastya Foundation and 43 ACT students from classes 5th to 7th.
The inaugural session was followed by the icebreaker sessions. Through various experiments, the teachers from the Agastya Foundation showed the students how to have "Fun with Science". The experiments included a few basic chemical combinations which fascinated our students. This was the first time these students are getting a direct exposure to science experiments and practical learning.
During the feedback session, the students expressed their appreciation and gratitude.
A happy childhood is perhaps the most fortunate gift in life – Dorothy Richardson.
We would like to thank each and every individual, who is with us in making this happen for all our children – a happy childhood, sound education, food security, and good health.
