In continuation with our efforts towards the project 'Educate 100 underprivileged children for one year', ACT is pleased to announce that we have now entered year 2 of our online mode of educational exchange.
This is the story of one of our soon-to-be graduates. It serves as a testament to the consistency of holistic support that each of our children receives in order to grow and develop as individuals.
Nimisha(name changed):
I joined the Trust when I was in Class 4; although I've learnt a lot over the years, what stands out the most is when I first became a senior. In my first year of Pre University (Class 11), I was encouraged to take up the responsibility of helping out in different ways at the Trust. It all started with me learning how to turn on a computer; now, I can confidently call myself an Excel expert! I was a part of the team that is responsible for collating data with respect to volunteers, students and donors; I was in charge of web links and newsletters. We seniors were also involved with teaching some of our juniors English. All that I am able to do is because of what I have learnt at the Trust. I am especially grateful to the Trust for helping me discover my talent for singing and subsequently assist me to hone my skill.
Last year, I was presented with an opportunity to give back to my community.
"I volunteered to be a part of the covid relief team because I wanted to let people know that they could depend on the Trust, not just in happy times, but also in difficult situations."
"I am very happy that I was able to help people during difficult times. It was a chance for me to practice the values that I have learnt at the Trust."
12 years of sustained support, in every aspect I can think of, is not something that I can be grateful for with just words.
