Admissions at ACT for the academic year 2025-26
Admissions at ACT for the academic year 2025-26

Academic year 2025-2026
At Ashwini Charitable Trust (ACT), we began the academic year 2025–26, by strengthening our ongoing efforts to support and uplift underprivileged children living in urban slums of the Ulsoor area, in the heart of Bangalore. With a deep-rooted belief that quality education should be accessible to all, ACT remains focused on creating equal learning opportunities for children from marginalized communities. This year, ACT will be working with 295 children and 197 families creating lasting change by focusing strongly on both learning and emotional development.

In addition to academic help, the ACT children are also offered life skills sessions, extracurricular activities, and counseling. Every child receives personal attention through mentoring and academic support.

As the 2025–26 academic year begins, ACT continues its commitment to equity, dignity, and joyful learning, helping children not only succeed in school but also grow into confident and capable individuals.

Orientation Session
In the Orientation sessions for parents exploring admission opportunities, ACT emphasises the importance of education and its ability to positively shape their children's futures. During these sessions, we provide an overview of the support ACT offers, along with the roles and responsibilities expected from both students and their families.
Senior ACT students and mothers played a key role by sharing their personal experiences, thereby encouraging new families to be part of the ACT journey

Admissions
Admissions for the academic year took place in April-May 2025. ACT, as always, prioritised families earning low income, with a special focus on first-generation learners. ACT staff also assisted parents in completing the necessary paperwork and documents to ensure a smooth and transparent admission process. This year at ACT, we saw a noticeable increase in applications, reflecting growing trust within the community.

Providing School Materials
ACT distributed a comprehensive set of educational materials and essentials tailored to the age and needs of each student. These included school bags, notebooks, pens, pencils, stationery kits, uniforms, shoes, socks and raincoats. This annual distribution drive plays a vital role in reducing the financial burden on families from underprivileged backgrounds, many of whom struggle to afford even basic school supplies. By providing these resources free of cost, ACT not only removes a major barrier to school attendance but also reinforces a sense of inclusion, dignity, and self-worth among the children. When well-prepared and appropriately dressed, our ACT children are able to walk into their classrooms feeling equal to their peers; they are motivated to learn, and are proud to be part of the school community.

Learning Assessment & Mentoring
At the start of the academic year, ACT conducted placement assessments for the students, to evaluate their current academic level and identify any learning challenges. Based on these results, students were matched with suitable mentors including senior ACT students and trained volunteer tutors.

Each child’s progress is being tracked regularly, and learning plans are adjusted as needed. This ensures that every child receives timely and personalised academic support.

Vasundhara 2025 Summer Camp
The Vasundhara 2025 Summer Camp, conducted by ACT and EAB, began with an inspiring talk by an expert which enthused all the campers. Throughout the camp, children engaged in various activities such as painting pots, replanting seedlings, and learned about Bangalore's lakes and ponds from professionals. They explored natural dyes by using turmeric, beetroot, and cabbage, tie-dyed and paper baskets. Learning moved outdoors as Grades 9th and 10th visited Namma Bengaluru Aquarium at Cubbon Park, India's second-largest aquarium with three floors of fish tanks and a new tunnel and koi pond. Senior students explored hands-on science exhibits and a Bangalore River display at the Visvesvaraya Museum. With colorful crafts, nature lessons, and exciting field trips, our campers had loads of fun, which made it a memorable and educational summer.

Conclusion
The academic year 2025–26 marks a renewed chapter in ACT’s journey of service to the community and nation. Through personalised educational support, mental wellness care, and strong community involvement, ACT remains committed to shaping capable, resilient, and empowered children.

Together, we move forward with hope, purpose, and the shared belief that every child deserves a fair chance to shine. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our donors for suppporting us and believing in us. Your support is immensely valued and impactful.
