Educate 50 Under Privileged Children for One Year

Ashwini Charitable Trust (ACT) is a registered NGO that educates and empowers underprivileged children from the urban slums and supports them till they are gainfully employed.  ACT is a transparent and efficiently run social organization in Bangalore, working towards the end-to-end needs of the underprivileged children, school education, early childhood development to English training, from proper nutrition good health by giving vaccinations to personality development, from livelihoods training, hobby activities, life skills training to job placements.

During the last quarter September - December we involved the children in a lot of extracurricular activities and hence explored new talents in dancing, singing, acting and also created audio visual reports on the calendar of events of the trust.

Some of the events are listed below:

• On 8/9/16 the children participated in a Movie Marathon Event where few volunteers showcased videos on creating about conservation of water. The children were quizzed on the videos and enjoyed the learning experience.
• On 12/10/16 the Bengali association organized Durga Pooja celebrations and this year our senior children participated in the invocation dance.
• On 27/09/16, during Daan Utsav joy of giving week, a business hotel and cafe each organized a Wishing Wall Activity. 40 children could wish for a gift and the employees came forward to buy these gifts. The children were invited to the hotel where they participated in various fun activities and were given gifts they wished for.
• On 19/11/16 a corporate company organized a greeting card making activity where 10 of their volunteers helped around 30 children from various age groups to make greeting cards.
• On 26/11/16 we celebrated our Annual day, our most awaited event every year. We always celebrate our annual day with our volunteers, our children and their parents. This year the children presented a musical play "The Last Call", showcasing their talents in the fields of Dance, Drama and Music. This musical addressed serious current environmental issues. The play was in English and some of the performers were so eloquent that the audience was in awe of the performance.
• The children also designed and created a movie showcasing all the activities at the trust during the previous year.
