1. Introduction
This report provides an update on the Educational Support for Climate-Affected Children project for the period May–August 17, 2026.
The project supports 27 children whose education has been disrupted or threatened by climate-related challenges, including floods, storms, displacement, and loss of household income. The project aims to help vulnerable children remain in school by addressing barriers such as school fees, learning materials, transportation, and other essential educational needs.
During this reporting period, the project continued to face severe funding constraints. No new project donations were received during the reporting period. As a result, the planned activities could not be expanded or implemented at the intended scale.
2. Project Goal and Objectives
The project seeks to protect the education of climate-affected children by:
- Providing tuition and school fee assistance
- Supplying essential school materials and uniforms
- Supporting transportation and other school-related costs
- Helping children maintain regular school attendance
- Providing tutoring and psychosocial support where resources permit
- Reducing the risk of school dropout among vulnerable children
3. Progress During the Reporting Period3.1 Funding Status
No new donations were received during May–August 17, 2026.
The project currently has $49,960 remaining toward its $50,000 fundraising goal, with only one donor recorded since the project's establishment.
The lack of new funding significantly limited the organization's ability to provide additional financial and educational assistance to the 27 identified children.
Despite this challenge, GFI continued to monitor the situation of vulnerable children and maintain communication with local stakeholders using available organizational resources.
3.2 Activities and Beneficiary Support
Because no new project funding was available during this reporting period, no significant expansion of direct financial assistance was possible.
The project team nevertheless continued to:
- Maintain communication with local contacts concerning the educational needs of climate-affected children
- Follow up on the situation of vulnerable children and their families
- Maintain relationships with schools and community stakeholders
- Monitor potential risks of school interruption and dropout
- Continue exploring opportunities to secure additional funding for the project
The organization remains committed to supporting the identified children when resources become available.
4. Impact
Although the absence of new funding limited direct project activities during this reporting period, continued stakeholder engagement helped maintain the project's readiness to respond to children's educational needs.
The project has also maintained awareness of the challenges facing climate-affected families and the importance of preventing children from falling further behind in their education.
The 15 children supported during the previous reporting period through GFI's own resources remain an important indication of the organization's commitment to the project despite limited donor support.
5. Challenges
The project continues to face several significant challenges:
- No new funding received during the reporting period
- Insufficient resources to support all 27 identified children
- Inability to provide regular tuition and transportation assistance
- Inability to distribute comprehensive school kits, uniforms, and learning materials at the intended scale
- Limited capacity to provide tutoring and psychosocial counseling

- Risk of educational disruption if children and their families cannot access additional support
The continuing funding gap remains the project's most significant constraint.

Subject to the availability of funding, GFI plans to:

- Support transportation costs for children facing access barriers
- Provide tutoring and psychosocial support where appropriate
- Strengthen monitoring of school attendance and educational progress
- Expand fundraising and donor outreach to secure resources for the project
8. Appeal for Support
The educational needs of climate-affected children in Bangladesh remain urgent. Twenty-seven children have been identified as vulnerable to educational disruption, while the project has received very limited donor support.
During the current reporting period, no new project funding was received, making it impossible to expand assistance to additional children.
GFI remains committed to using available resources responsibly, but sustained donor support is essential to provide regular educational assistance and protect vulnerable children from falling out of school.
9. Conclusion
During May–August 17, 2026, the Educational Support for Climate-Affected Children project continued to operate under severe financial constraints. No new donations were received during the reporting period, which prevented the implementation of major planned activities and expansion of direct beneficiary support.
Despite these limitations, Green Fund Initiative continued stakeholder communication, monitored the needs of vulnerable children, and maintained the project's readiness for future intervention.
The organization remains committed to helping climate-affected children remain in school and build more secure futures. With additional donor support, the project can expand assistance to the 27 identified children and provide the educational resources, stability, and opportunities they need to overcome the effects of climate-related disruption.
